Amy Fourney, LPC

amyf@weaverandassociates.net

Amy Fourney, LPC, grew up in Northern Virginia and has dedicated her career to walking alongside kids, teens, and families through anxiety, depression, identity exploration, and life's big transitions. She earned her master's degree in clinical mental health counseling from The George Washington University and spent two formative years as a resident at an intensive outpatient program, where she deepened her understanding of what young people and families really need.

While Amy works with clients with a wide range of needs and experiences, she is deeply committed to neurodivergent-affirming care. She values neurodiversity as a natural part of human experience and works to create environments where young people feel understood rather than pressured to mask or meet neurotypical expectations. Her approach emphasizes sensory awareness, communication differences, self-advocacy, and family support.

Amy brings a warm, grounding presence to her therapeutic work. Drawing on training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT), and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, she creates a relaxed and inclusive environment where clients can build confidence, strengthen relationships, and develop practical tools for navigating life's challenges. Her approach helps young people stay connected to their values and move forward with greater clarity and resilience.
